CURRICULUM VITAE
Born in 1972, Franz Bazzani graduated in Piano at Music Conservatory
“F. E. Dall’Abaco” with Fulvio Zanoni. He also
studied privately with Leonid Levitsky in Los Angeles. He attended
high school in Italy graduating as an accountant specializing
in English and German languages.
Franz Bazzani, as pianist, has premiered a lot of Francesco Valdambrini’s
compositions in Austria, Germany and Italy. With Isabella Cavagna,
violin teacher af Bolzano’s Consevatory, he performed “Melos
II”, one of the most important works of Mr. Valdambrini’s
creative period. Later with the violinist Maria Odorizzi, violin
teacher of Verona’s Conservatory, he played “Carme”,
another of Valdambrini’s compositions, and “Rapsodia
tricordale” by Daniel Oberegger.
Franz Bazzani has now completed the Composition course at Verona’s
Music Conservatory and some of his pieces have been already performed.
In 1999 he was commissioned by the Italian director-producer-writer-and-poet
Sarenco, to compose 4 songs for piano and soprano voice for the
French Festival “Voix de la Mediterranée” (Lodève).
In 2001 he partecipated as composer at the meeting “Arte
e cultura nella Verona d’inizio 1900” with work “Fantasia
per Violoncello e Pianoforte”.
Franz Bazzani joined a scholarship during the first 6 months of
2004: Erasmus Project Student Exchange between Verona Conservatory
and the University of Leeds. Here he studied composition with
Michael Spencer and he delved some of the XX° century masterpieces
of piano literature with Renna Kellaway.
Since 2002 some of his compositions have been published by “Edizioni
Arca Musica Edition”. In the same year he played as soloist
and with Maria Odorizzi music by Webern and Valdambrini in the
recital “Variazioni di pressione” that focused on
contemporary music from Schoenberg to Stockhausen, Villa, Cage,
Tasca, Schnittke and Keiko Abe. He teaches at the “Accademia
Musicale Martinelli” near Verona, and the “Scuola
Civica Muicale” in Riva del Garda (Trento).
In summer 2005 he was casted in to be part as student of the Composition
Summer Courses of Accademia Chigiana (Siena-Italy). Lecturers,
teachers and musicians from all aver the world will hold the courses:
Maestro Azio Corghi and his assistant Mauro Bonifacio led the
young composers bunch. He is attending to the “Corsi di
Alto Perfezionamento di Composizione” held in Brescia at
Fondazione Romanini and led by Maestro Corghi and Bonifacio as
well.

Franz Bazzani is a skillful pianist and keyboard player. He plays
different kinds of music: rock, funky, jazz and country with many
bands. In 2002 in Torino with “Nuovi Cedrini”, a kind
of Italian rock-cabaret band, it was awarded the “San Scemo”
Festival 9th Edition. The band was often special guest in the
Zelig theatre (Milano) and it was several times the “Elio
e le storie tese” supporter, the most important Italian
progressive-demential band.
Franz Bazzani has recorded with Luca Olivieri, a great country-guitar
player well known all over Europe. and has performed also with
many Italian and foreign artists, including Bobby Solo, Bruno
Marini, James Burton (... the Elvis Presley’s guitar player...),
Jerry Donahue, Tommy Emmanuel (... the best acoustic guitar player
in the world...), John Jorgenson
(... three world tours with Elton John...), Alan Thomson (...
bass player of John Martyn, Yes...) and Johnny Hiland.
Franz plays keyboards in the “Viva Santana!” group,
the sole Italian band part of the cast of XV° Festival “Latinoamericando
2005” held in Milan, that proposes a tribute to the Carlos
Santana’s music.
